The Team

Meet the team.

JAZZ is a small team with deep roots. We've been working with the same communities for 10–15 years — that's not a coincidence. It's how the work gets done right.

Ketan Bhalla

Founder & Chief Evangelist

Ketan Bhalla

Ketan founded JAZZ Solar in 2009 with a clear mission: to be a catalyst of meaningful change in energy, starting with the communities that need it most. An electrical engineer with an MSc from the University of Alberta and two patents to his name, he previously founded CHiL Semiconductor (acquired by International Rectifier/Infineon for $75M) and CeyBa/Sybarus (acquired by Lucent). He has spent the last 15+ years building JAZZ into one of Ontario's most trusted Indigenous-energy partners — 30+ MW deployed, 20+ First Nations partnerships, and a reputation built project by project.

Nancy Sooley

Director, First Nations Energy Sovereignty

Nancy Sooley

Nancy is the first call for any First Nations community exploring solar, microgrids, or energy sovereignty. A certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and Indigenous consultant, she brings over a decade of experience in environmental assessment, regulatory approvals, and community engagement across Canada's North — including five years as Manager of Project Environmental Assessments at Wataynikaneyap Power, the landmark Indigenous-owned transmission project connecting 17 remote First Nations communities off diesel. Her approach starts with relationship: listening to a community's history, governance, and vision before a single line is drawn.

Grace Russell

Sr. Director of Development

Grace Russell

Grace brings over a decade of operational and project management experience across Canada's renewable energy sector, including senior roles at Grasshopper Solar Corporation, Solar Power Network, and Hanwha QCells Canada. At JAZZ, she leads business development — identifying new project opportunities, advancing the pipeline, and managing strategic partnerships. An active voice in the industry, she has moderated at CanREA's Operators Summit and sits on the board of the London Renewable Energy District Co-op.

Jon Carr

Director of Operations

Jon Carr

Jon has been with JAZZ for over six years, working his way from PV systems design through project delivery to leading company-wide operations. As Director of Operations, he manages a portfolio of 25–30 active projects spanning solar EPC, battery storage, O&M, and capacity building — across roughly 15 First Nations communities in Ontario. He built and scaled the operations team that keeps it all moving, and is a certified Tesla Powerwall installer. Before moving into operations leadership, he spent years in the field doing system design, commissioning, and grid interconnection work with Hydro One.

Anoop Gandhi

Senior Operations Manager

Anoop Gandhi

Anoop's connection to JAZZ goes back to 2015, when he interned here at the start of his solar career. After a decade building operations expertise across Canada's residential solar sector — including as a founding team member and Director of Operations at MySolar Group, where he oversaw 3,500+ projects and $100M+ in installations across Ontario and the Maritimes — he returned to JAZZ in 2026. A mechanical engineer with a Master's in Sustainable Energy from Carleton University, he brings deep full-cycle EPC experience and a proven ability to build and scale project delivery teams.

Asenia Lyall

Sr. Project Coordinator

Asenia Lyall

Asenia keeps JAZZ's project pipeline moving on the research and funding side. An MFA graduate from Toronto Metropolitan University with a background in writing and editorial work, she brings sharp attention to detail and clear communication to grant applications, NRCan proposals, and project documentation. Her ability to translate complex technical and policy information into compelling, accurate writing has made her a key part of how JAZZ secures funding for community energy projects.

Luis Felipe Villarroel Quinde

Sr. Project Coordinator

Luis Felipe Villarroel Quinde

Luis brings a rare combination of formal project management rigour and hands-on engineering depth to the JAZZ project team. A PMP-certified mechanical engineer with a Master's in Energy from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, he spent over a decade leading industrial EPC projects across the propane and food processing sectors in Peru — managing multi-million dollar CAPEX portfolios from design through commissioning. He came to Canada through Fanshawe College's Renewable Energies Technician program and joined JAZZ to apply that same structured discipline to solar and battery projects.
